Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you book. Anything else, just message us.

How much is the trial lesson?

The trial lesson is $100 per hour up to Year 4, and $120 per hour for JC 1–2 and IB Year 1–2. The tutor reads the student’s recent papers first, so the lesson targets the real problem from minute one.

What do we get after the trial lesson?

Our written diagnostic: what the student already does well, where marks are being lost and how to fix it. You also get our Lesson Recommendation, covering how often and how long to have lessons and the likely monthly cost. The advice is the family’s to keep whether or not lessons continue.

How soon will you reply to my enquiry?

Within 1 working day. In practice we usually reply within 3 hours.

How do the online lessons work?

Lessons are live and 1-to-1 on a virtual whiteboard, with timed exercises. After sign-up the family also gets a shared Google workspace with personalised study materials, and the student can message their tutor homework questions on Google Chat between lessons.

Do we need to buy any materials?

No. All materials and worksheets are provided. We only ask for sample school work, so the tutor can plan lessons around it.

Will my child keep the same tutor?

That is our aim. Most students stay with the same tutor from Year 2 until JC 2 or IB Year 2, so nobody has to start again halfway. If a tutor is ever unable to continue, we will let the family know, and they can choose between a new tutor and stopping lessons.

Can we reschedule a lesson?

Yes. Please give at least one day’s notice where possible, and we will reschedule or arrange a make-up lesson at a time that suits the student and the tutor.

How do I pay?

By PayNow, bank transfer or credit card. Credit card payments carry an additional 5% charge.

Can we stop at any time?

Yes. Either side can end lessons with one week’s notice.

Which levels and subjects are taught?

PSLE, Secondary (SEC, previously O and N Levels; G1 to G3), the Integrated Programme, A-Level, IB Diploma and university admission coaching. See the Subjects page for the full list.
